simultaneous printing to PDF and TXT

I received a request to look into simultaneously generating PDF and TXT files

my thought would be that we could easily pick one and then:

1) manually archive it to the other
2) have some kind of process that would fire off the archive when the generation of the file is completed

any ideas?
