A guess.....

Experience is a long road and and expensive school!

Thanx to one and all for your help....
actually, the one Windows 2000 workstation that I'm worrying about is here in Brooklyn (where the server is) and doesn't connect thru CometAnywhere.... so.... I may not have too much difficulty after all... that is if I can get Windows 7 up and running on the workstation on the next desk and get connectivity into COMET, then the W2000 workstation is history
One thing that was very helpful was the following quote from the wiki (System Requirements):
"When selecting a version of these utilities for your installation it is important to choose ones that are compatible with the version of Comet you'll be running. To make this decision, look at the release date on the download page for the REL and UTL zip files. Choose one with a release date at or before the release date of your Comet version." That was my guess, but it's good to have confirmation. On my TEST system, I keep it up to the latest/greatest, so it's easy to decide what to load.
Thanx again!
