You shouldn't have the problem starting Comet in the root folder using the configuration you describe. The error you're getting suggests that CFAM.exe is not running on the workstation. Try starting it manually by double-clicking on it before you attempt to load Comet and see if that makes a difference. You should find CFAM.exe in the same folder as the other Comet executables.
