I have two customers with this problem. CometServices won't start as a service. I have two more MS suggestions to try. One "easy" regedit and another installing some monitoring software to collect a log that I can send to them to analyze.
Thought another uninstall of CSP, root out any residual stuff, and then try the CSP install again might be usefull.
Besides MS is going to blame them problem on you anyway :)
