My customer had a weird thing happen on their system while testing procedures (see below). The are running the latest Comet and are not quire ready to go live. The Comet system is running on a virtual drive with XP Pro loaded (some of their files are image) until the software can be brought up to date. The server is running the latest MS server products. If you have any thoughts how this could happen I would appreciate hearing about it.
As quirks arise I will send them to you for mental processing!!
Odd (at least to my inexperienced eyes) thing happened early this morning. One of our automatic morning processes encountered a fatal error (QENDITOR), and here is what I found out ...
-- This process uses a temporary file in "TMP" for a sort.
-- it first erases any previous sort file then attempts to create a new sort file.
-- the processed errored-out on the ERASE
-- I looked at the TMP folder (.../CATEMP) and notice a QDIR.DIR existed but no QDIR.I00
-- I tried to rebuild the TMP directory with Comet Explorer. It completed successfully but it did not create a QDIR.I00
-- I tried the process again and it failed again
-- I tried a Q 11 Directory Catalog on TMP and that failed with an error.
-- I terminated Comet then restarted Comet, which appears to completely clear and recreate TMP, and a QDIR.I00 appeared
-- everything then worked.
Each file can be a maximum of 1MB in length Uploaded files will be purged from the server on a regular basis.
