SSL/XAP

Having intermittent problem with our XAP application using SSL. The SSL is "dropping out". Seems to be correlated with heavy rains (ie noisy communication lines). Perhaps a time-out issue. Anyone have any experience with this type of situation. Are there any settings that can be tweaked?
