Thanks to the holiday, I got a chance to think about this foe some extended time. I see 2 potential problems. I can't say whether these will fix the problem, but here they are:
1. Emailptr was issuing the connect control and then immediately after that was going into a receive. If the receive was successful, it set a timeout of 30 seconds. That first receive was performed with whatever default timeout was set before.
2. Comet32 was setting a timeout of 30 seconds on the connect itself. After some detailed research, I see that the standard timeout on a connect is 75 seconds. This may have the effect of causing the program to timeout before the server had a chance to complete the connect operation.
I fixed both of these issues. I put a pre release of comet 471 and a revised emailptr.obj in download/mailboxes for you to try.
