Aha the new bit. CometAnywhere. CAW seems to have a "won't go faster" limit.

Are the locations connected by WAN so you can "see" the remote PC's and printers via Active Directory? If so, have the CAW host print directly to the printer instead of using the CAW pipe. If not, then you might look at Internet Printing. Basically, the remote printer shares itself out to the Internet without needing VPN or WAN.

A faster CAW Host with more memory can't hurt either.
