Is this a c32 program? If so, you could trace it and see what exceptions you are getting on the erase and create. In any case, it would be good to see what exceptions are being produced.
I was solving your next issue when the xap site gets busier. When that happens, you may find yourself running in a different partition when returning to the site. In that case partition$ will have changed. Your xap server is probably not that busy. In that case you would be returning to the same partition again.
