I connected up to an end-user to see if I could pull off some codeing with a file that has a division code and sales figures. What I wanted to do was define a couple of numerics that contain a zero or a one depending on the pos() of the division in a divsion constant, 'LW' or 'PO'. Once I have that field I wanted to define a new field that is the sales field times the division multiplier. That would give a divisional sales field for the record that is zero for one division and the sales field for the other division. I get a "Cannot have nested expressions" message when trying to print the divisional sales fields. The old "linear" reporter allowed nesting as long as the the nested expressions were previously defined. This can't be done with dbx, eh?
