Found the following in a .uee file where I added the Function String 2 item by the much maligned process of "Monkey See, Monkey Do" (or, as professional Mathematicians say... "Proceeding Formalistically"):

/Function String = "%[Pf]*)$"
/Function String 1 = "%[A-Za-Z0-9]*:"
/Function String 2 = "%[0-9]+"

it's just that the format of the Regular Expression string is very bizarre.... it's not Unix and it's not Perl (the latest flavour I've come across)... and I figure that Unix surely preceeded UltraEdit... dunno.

more study awaits to get to the bottom of this UE regex format... but I'll still use Perl format in searches... that's my plan and I'm sticking to it!

P.S. If anyone can decipher the first Function String I'd be happy to know.... thanx in advance! it's just that there are unbalanced parentheses... not sure what that's supposed to mean.
