BB:

the format is used for both input/output. Been like that for some time, however.... my best estimate is since April 17, 2006! No problem ever (as far as I know) under Comet/16.

Since I have you.... I think in other contexts where there are (TM)/(TP), (RJ), (MC) and other Video Mnemonics used in an input/output format, I've noticed shifting..... under some circumstance I haven't investigated it seems that there is a (TM) or (TP) on the left during input.... but when "echoed back" the first character of the output is where the (TM) was.... this causes some kind of jumping left/right by one character after the input and before going to the next field.

also... the length override in the format... can that be either greater than or less than the actual declared LENGTH? I'm trying to re-work a utility screen input module and envision some cases where I may need both capabilities.

Thanx much!

Bob "A"
