On second thought since I don't know how old your Reporter is. Maybe it's safest for you to just add one line of code to your existing RPGUSE file. Right after IF ~ANS$ = "W" PAUSE 18 & GO CHKGATE add this:
~ANS$ = "W" ! to make sure background partitions pause
