I know nothing of the internals, but this seems to be a "Spot-on" analysis (as always)

I'm proceeding on the assumption that something like this has happened, since:

can't detect errors on the file I originally reported
can't make the programs fail
Today is the 1st of May... gotta get rockin' and rollin'
