I've always used the PATH= since day one. Never had a problem with it. As a matter of fact I sometime generate to a different path when installing a newer release. I also had cases where I would have configurations for multiple PATH= in the same dot-ini file.

And yes! I use UNC names (aka \\server\share\path)
