Herb:

Marc posted some info about Citrix and Comet being OK together.

Terminal Services can be used for several things. I use it to log into and remotely manage some of my customers servers. This is done via a second session running on the host.

Terminal Services and the more advanced Citrix allow you to use very small/limited PC's (called "thin clients") to log into a server and run their applications on the server. Basically, the user's PC is a terminal. The mini-computer makes a comeback! But, the server has to be BIG, BIG, BIG. Lots of MB. I've heard 50-100MB per user plus whatever the server needs for itself. Plus top of the line CPU and HDD.

That's the basic as I understand them.

Personally, I like Microsoft Small Business Server 2003. $600 for basic (5 users) plus $100 per user above that. Standard edition comes with Exchange 2003, Outlook 2003, Outlook Web Access. I always get the Premium edition. About $1500 for 5 users plus $100/user. Includes SQL server and ISA server (software firewall/web accellerator). Lots of other goodies for the customer. You can get better prices when bundled with a server from Dell. Gateway too.
