I was having a problem trying to get a new comet workstation to run our fax
confirmation program which had been running on an older machine at our
customers location for the last two years. The PC died, and was replaced,
and comet installed but, would not run our fac confirmation prgm. After
trapping the error, the program was saying it could not laod the comet fax
driver. Brian asked me if i had run the cometfaxsupport prgm there, and i
had not, so I did, and the following is my problem:

I installed the cometfaxsupport.exe (3,614kb dated 7/30/2) on the new PC,
but we ran into some problems. 1st it somehow hung the pc and the novell
server during the setup process. After rebooting both the workstation and
the novell server, we tried again, but this time installed it to the local
pc (C:\Comet\CometFaxSupport). It didn't hang anything but when we ran our
fax sending prgm on that PC, it still error's trying to load the comet fax
driver. Where should we choose to install the program to? At first we just
chose the default which was the comet server, but it hung the system. To
make matters worse, something must have blown up during the hang beacuse
they can no longer access the reporter directory or the Qutilities prgm (UTL
directory). They get an error 87, unexpected error from dos if the enter a
"q" or "$" at the ready prompt.

Error details:

if they enter a "Q" at the ready:

Error #87
current prgm: qmonitor
Last Lun: 50 qutility, ' '
path: \\hjelm\jim\comet\rel\qmonitor.obj

if they enter a "$" at the ready:

Error #87
current program: qreport
Last lun: 50 'RQP1 ' , 'PRG'
path: \\hjelm\jim\comet\rpg\qreport.obj

I thought perhaps the file qdirs got blown. I downed the server and renamed
the REL, RPG and UTL directories and installed new ones. Re-started the
server and comet and still have the same problems.

They have both Comet 2003 ver .321/0403 and Comet 2004 ver .334 / 04.03
installed and get the same error regardless of which one they run.

The are running comesrv.nlm ver 4.03.

The customer is Jim Hjelm.

Can someone please call me here at 631-395-1493 asap.

Thank you

Jim Barbaruolo

if they enter a Q
