Great!,

Send us the source and object of the link-compiled programs. Maybe we
can get rid of the need to link them. Maybe we can convert them to IBS?
Who knows.

How many of them are there?

Jim

Thanks Jim - I discovered that I do have the source for the link
compiled programs. But what can I do with them - they still need to be
link compiled. I think I've got a work around anyways. The other
programs that wouldn't convert were *LEXXFR or something like that and
instead of displaying the source name in *CATALOG it displayed LE VER
3.11 - I believe these are all part of the terminal emulation program
they were using called "LosEndos", which they also used for file
transfers, which of course we will no longer need.
Thanks again for your help.

Joe

Joe,

I knew there were programs out there that comet could not execute.
Please, Please, please try to find the sources.

I am passing the semi-colon one on to Keith Smith who knows more about
Qaccess than anyone else on the planet.

Jim

Hi Jim,

I was talking to Barbara today and she suggested that I talk to you
about some problems I am having with CONVPAK. Yes, believe it or not
there is still a Qantel user out there and I am in the process of
getting them set up on Comet.

I followed Bryce's instructions:

First, let's talk about converting a Qantel system to Comet. Some
time ago, we put together a "conversion package" that contains a
pre-configured version of Comet 504 (required for Qantel
conversions), QTerm, and QACCESS. You can find this package
at:

http://www.signature.net/download/Unsupported/convpak.zip

The documentation for the package is located at:

http://www.signature.net/download/Unsupported/convpak.txt

Everything worked fine once Twila gave me a temporary password for my
plug in order to process large files (I wasn't able to covert large
files in the demo mode), until I tried to convert some object programs
that had been compiled using the linkage compiler (I can tell by the
SOLR, etc at the beginning of the program). I don't know how this works
(I had seen it years ago working with QMRP) but when I try to convert
the program through QACCESS - it hangs. I have inherited these programs
so I don't know the first thing about them or even if I can compile them
on the Qantel, but is there anyway to convert them?

The other hiccup with QACCESS was when trying to covert keyed files the
began with a semi-colon. QACCESS returned an error "***** HEXCP=0,
REXCP=11 *****". So what I did was rename them in Qantel, converted
them and then renamed them back on Comet. Just wondering though what
the problem was.

Thanks for you help.
