To determine where things went bad, I recovered several full backups of my Comet folder and tested the program.

I've made a better determination of the WDL versions. From 01/2014 thru 08/2014, I was using WDL1301, DGL1301, and DMW0801. No help here.

07/2014 was the last time the program ran without error.

Per your suggestion, I copied COSW.EXE version 480 from 07/2014 backup to my live Comet folder. That was the version in use the last time the program ran successfully under Comet16. The program still got the spurious E11.
