the finer points of using FILE (lun) CSV for input

I have changed a program which counted delimiters and manually parsed a CSV file to one using FILE (LUN) CSV

the file was supposed to have 48 delimiters but the first input file came with 47 delimiters

does anybody know what I should expect to happen....

for myself, I'd like it to blank fill missing columns and ignore extra columns... if only because others with whom we interact are rarely those that prepare the files.....
