OK I finally figured this out. It turns out the COMMON count problem has to do with whether the last variable declaration is for a COMMON or a LOCAL. If it's COMMON the common count will be incorrect. This was introduced in Comet version .490. The COMMON count will be off by 335 bytes. At this point I don't think it's causing a problem for the program. (I don't think it's responsible for your E72). It will be fixed in the next release of Comet. For now if you're worried, add LOCAL variable to the end of your declarations if the last one is COMMON.
