It hits me. Don't just check Windows Firewall, make sure effing Windows Defender is not running. Turned off Windows Defender on the Win7 32-bit PC that's not been running Comet for the past four hours, and voila. I've had a few people tell me Windows Defender is not only worthless, but that the only thing it defends against is the stuff you want to run.
