I will be very interested to see responses to this post. When you respond please also tell us which version of Comet32 any affected clients are running. Here's why...
In the past 6 months we added code to both Comet32 and both server products to help us detect and automatically log out orphaned connections. These are users who remain connected to either or both the security server and file server after the Comet client crashed or didn't log out properly for some other reason. In order to gain the benefit of this feature you have to be on minimum versions of both Comet32 and the server:
File Server logouts are first supported with Comet32 version .495 and Server Products version 15.3.
Security Server logouts are first supported with Comet32 version .497 and Server Products version 16.0.
These features do create more network traffic to the servers but not so much that we'd expect it to cause problems. The File Server is pinged every 60 seconds. The Security Server is pinged every 5 minutes.
By network problems do you mean E9B or is there some other symptom?
Again, if you suspect problems please post both the server and client versions you are running.
