OK this makes some sense now. You had said the IT guy assured you the user had access to all the archive directories. When you CLOSE the printer Comet copies the doc into the archive. In order to do that it has to open the archive. It'll get an E54 if the user doesn't have access to the archive dir. So... you were doing a CLOSE when the E54 happened.
