Looks like it does not like a SELECT CASE does not like use of string-expression that is in an array - even if the index is a constant!!

example:

SELECT CASE SRSHIP$(1)

I remember that once upon a time, we couldn't use a variable index in some function, like SRSHIP$(X), but could use SRSHIP$(1). Don't remeber which function but it may have been in unformatted PRINT.


Tested Using COMET32 2017.509 with REL 17.01 on Windoze 7 Pro.
