This AM I moved our 4 network printers to TCP/IP queues in lieu of Novell queues. Prior to this we had Comet 2003 and 2004 printers setup to print to LPC (Printer = LPC,W,N,,?,RPTS-CMP,;) and it worked fine. Since then we get 'Device Inoperative' in every Comet OS. The printers print fine via anything but Comet. This problem happens at our clients sites as well and it seems to be a timing issue. If I delete old unused ports from Windows, it usually fixes the problem, it did not help this morning at the Locis office though. It seems that if it can't obtain the list of printers fast enough, the following error occurs.
