I expected extra matches with "MILTON". But, not having exact matches not showing. And, I expected only exact matches with "MILTON E" and "MILTON E.". Instead of none.

After a few more trials, this worked.

I entered "MILTON E", tabbed to field length which changed from 0 to 8, tabbed to Case and checked that.

This should have worked with "MILTON", "MILTON E" and "MILTON E." without the setting the length and checking Case.
