why does IB keep generating "S" output ???

I keep getting a type "S" from IB
the .LST shows 1 ERROR
yet.. I can find nothing in .LST to show what's the complaint
I've deleted the .LST and the type "S" file (without extension).. to no avail
nothing works

any idea?
