restrictions on NUM and DATE2NUM

this is a question, perhaps wrapped not in an enigma, but as a feature request....

does NUM("(1.99)") return 1.99-
does NUM("1,234.56-) return 1234.56-

gotta write some procedures documents, and I always write that incoming NUMs like this must be manually converted

DATE2NUM... those sending us data have ORACLE systems... so dates come as: 25-OCT-2018
have to deploy code to respond to this

P.S. since latest versions of SAP return negative numbers with trailing minus (a-la-COMET!!!!) many input systems are now (com)pliant to this.. including some EsCel versions
