Seems to me that my PDF printing on Comet is getting flakier. So what's the state of PDFing?
1) Adobe - never used as it was too expensive per user when most users just needed a printer driver for Comet.
2) pdfFactory - used this a lot with customers. A good value and very stable thru version 4. Had trouble with 5 working right. Now they have 6.
3) Comet PDF - switched most of my customers here as the price was right. The current install package doesn't work right. Downloads from BullZip don't seem to work right either. Modern security appliances and software block the freeware the BullZip install tries to bring down from the Internet. Separate downloads and installs are time consuming and lead to an unstable install. On CAWHost PC's, that run multiple days between reboots, start getting BullZip popup error messages and crash Windows Explorer.
So what's working reliably?
Example of recent weirdness. Win10 PC with pdfFactory 4.75. After laser A/P checks are printed, a PDF copy is created and later printed for filing. The program is four or so years old. Around December 1st, something changed so that the "embedded" MICR in the PDF quit printing and another font was substituted. Looking at the PDF properties since November 1st you can see something going on in the fonts section.
