Yes, the first 44 characters contains lots of information.

I have a INCLUDE file that contains both declaratives and executable (subroutine) that I use everytime I need a FINDFIRSTFILE or FINDNEXTFILE. It returns ALL the decoded information about the file.

It has a trace option.
