Yes! Messing with the clock can cause disconnects. There's a ping mechanism in play between the Comet client and the servers that tells the server that the client is still connected. Those pings are expected at predictable intervals based on time. If you change the time on either the server or the client you could mess this up. A sure indication that this is your problem is if you see "Orphan logout" in the server logs.
