Mystery solved.
125003 FILKEY$=XN$+'O'+ZCMNBR$ !WORK FILE
125005 1032 CREATE FILKEY$,191,K,52,DIR=ZDIR$,EXCP=1034
125006 1033 CLOSE (6) & OPEN (6) FILKEY$,DIR=ZDIR$
XN$ = ' 24'
FILKEY$=' 24O46' --- /32 doesn't like the leading spaces.
FILKEY$='00024O46' --- works fine.
16-bit Comet didn't care about the leading spaces.
32-bit Comet "cares" about the leading spaces and errored out.
I filled the leading spaces with zeros and the program works fine.
As Always, thanks for all your help Barbara.
