For this instance, it does look like the backup service is probably the culprit. Comet was issued a shutdown command at 11pm as indicated here

My guess is whatever service they're using for creating backups is shutting down Comet in order to get a proper backup completed. Maybe there's a way to exempt Comet from this behavior inside the backup utility, or possibly have comet shutdown automatically at 10:45pm, then restart sometime in the early AM with a scheduled task?

If there are other times when Comet is shutting down/crashing out, I can take a look at those logs as well. These kinds of issues are the hardest to reproduce, and therefor the hardest to debug.
