Read Jim's getting started articles when they came out but didn't have a project so I put Windows Apps aside. Now, having reprinted the artiles and downloading anew, I've come across one of the things that annoyed me the first time.
Attached are three screens (with out the Logo Image). Since I and my customers run in full screen mode most of the time, I always see things in that mode first. Full1.jpg shows WIN18 in full screen mode. Slightly garbled. If I minimize and then restore I get Full2.jpg. Looks nice. So, why don't I see Full2.jpg right away.
If I start in "Restore Down" mode instead of full screen the screen looks good. Minimize and Restore seem to work flawlessly. See Restore.jpg.
I think this behavior started with WIN13 when Jim introduced the "Buggy Group Box".
The behavior of DBManager is different. If started in full screen, the screen goes to the "Restore Down" mode, and sizes itself. When DBManager closes the scrren returns to total full screen. The WIN13-18 programs leave a small gap on the right. A Minimize/Maximize sets it back to a true full screen.
