As per your suggestion, of unloading all comet sessions on the server, the caupd.exe ran - but it stopped in it tracks. The message:
verifying installation -
On the remote screen with CA
c:\comet\cafiles\install\cafiles\caupd.exe 852 K bytes copied
Botton of screen:
verifying installation file ....
The remote task manger on the CA --- 'task manager running'
The terminal was locked up - I had to key ' ctl alt del' to get out of the program.
