The source of security has nothing to do with those slow opens. In my opinion the slow opens are caused by the reliance on type N directories and thus on the Microsoft file system keeping users' synchronized using record locking.
Performance would be much improved if the customer purchased the comet file server and used CFAM directories.
If you want to test this theory we could generate a trial certificate good for 30-60 days.
