Hi Grant. I don't understand why, but it would appear that Windows is doing it. I stepped through the file server code as it was creating the file and watched it create the file using the old create date. After further investigation I found out why. Here's what MS says about it:
Windows NT/2000/XP: If you rename or delete a file, then restore it shortly thereafter, the system searches the cache for file information to restore. Cached information includes its short/long name pair and creation time.
A possible solution would be for the server to manually set the new create time to the new update time following the create. I'll bring this up for discussion with Jim.
