What I do with the DOS files is to archive invoice files to a CD.
The program reads invoice history from directory 'SWH' and generates 2 DOS files for each customer to directory 'SWZ' with the naming convention - COMPANY CODE (length=1 string) and CUSTOMER NO (length=6 string) with a suffix of .HDR for header files and .LIN for line item files. So for customer number CASHD in company 1, I generate 1CASHD .HDR and 1CAHSD .LIN.
Directory 'SWZ' is then burnt to CD.
When I access the CD to inquire on 1CASHD the path returned is D:\SWZ\1CASHD .HDR.
