Hi Herb. The mechanism you're referring to that is used by your pdf writer (and others) simply takes the document name assigned when the printer is first opened and uses that name for the pdf file name. We've tried applying the "SpoolMessage" mnemonic after the printer has been opened but the pdf writer programs have already named the output file so they ignore the new spool message. We've been working wih two pdf writer programs, PdfFactory and Adobe Acrobat. By adding special code to COSP that identifies their unique pdf drivers, we are able to move (thus renaming) a resulting pdf file to a Comet directory (without adding to the QDIR). Because there are many pdf writes available, we had to pick and choos which we would support. Adobe Acrobat was chose just because it's everywhere. PdfFactory was chose because it is inexpensive and did a very good job of rendering the pdf document. I hope this will be useful to you.

Brian
