Most of my users spend their day in Comet, leaving Comet is likely followed by a shutdown. Make it too easy to leave Comet and it will become anoying.
You do know that Ctrl-F4 is a universal Close-this-app shortcut. That will kill a comet session pretty fast.. just as fast as clicking on the [X] in the upper-right corner.
As for having a customized QMONITOR that survives new releases, I use it. Simply configure a directory before REL that carries a customized QMONITOR. I oftwn use the COS folder (it has to be there anyway).
