Hey Matt
We have the same type of problem. We have the Comet Database Server and Security Server installed on a Windows 2000 server. Running Veritas Backup Exec, we issue a pre and post backup command to shut down the server, and thereby close any files that any connected nodes may have open.
Prior to backup, we issue "NET STOP COMETSERVICES"
After the backup, "NET START COMETSERVICES"
This works if you have the database server setup to run as a service. Remember too, that this will only work for files that are controlled by the server. Since all our directories are configured as type "C", this works for us. If you have them configured as type "S", then non-keyed files may not close using this method.
