I really like Comet Data Express and have end-users who are starting
to really use it. However, I've run into a problem that I think is
going to require some adjustments. The problem involvles multiple
divisions running on the same server with the same file layouts, just different filenames in different directories.

Problem:
Comet Data Express generates its definition file ( .D00 ) in the directory that's specified with the actual file name. In this arrangement, separate divisions must have a separate definition created using the separate directory name. Not only that but I don't see any way around not having to create a new file name. For example
if Order.Ship.H exists under one directory then the new division must
have Order.Ship.H1 in order to be assured of using the correct divisional file to use.

Solution:
Eliminate directory from the file definition and have all the .D00 and .V00 files created in a single directory such as UTR or CDE. When a View is generated, the files required ( primary or linked ) would be opened by going down the DAB list to find the file. This is
how we set things up for single R/G reporting on multiple divisions with the old #FILES and Reporter.

Tom.
