Are you certain the USB port on the laptop isn't flaky? The Security Server hasn't changed since version 4.11. Which version are you running? The version of Comet shouldn't matter. If you revert to Comet 2004 does the problem stop? Do you have another USB device you can plug in to that port and monitor it for any unusual behavior?
