I spenty last week upgrading a customer to W2k3 Sserver (work group only, no domain) with XP Pro sp2 w/s's. Latest versions of Comet2004.
I added two network printers and these work fine but ALL my original shared parallel port printers I cannot access by the standard share name in Sysgen. I can access them via the ? option in sysgen and then selecting them .
Is there some trick now in the naming of shared printers under w2k3 & xp ? When installing xp I said yes to the question about sharing files & printers.
I have tried the share name and the full path name in sysgen. Not that that can be the problemn as they will print from the machine they are attached to.
Is it necessary to install the printer on each machine or can it pick up the auto share that is miraculously appearing in network neighborhood on all machines in the network.
AS an adjunct, is there a good reason for Domains in our types of environment.
