You're correct, Marc. The color palette would be the same for all sessions. The only other possibility I can think of is that your chosen colors (change color mnemonic) is in conflict with the configured (comet.ini) colors. If the colors you choose with your mnemonic are the same as those in the comet.ini file, COSW may change them. Even though you may have COSW ignoring the physical colors associated with the configuration, those values internally still represent the attributes FG, BG, INV & ENTRY. If COSW didn't override those values, you'd end up really messing up your screen.

The individual attributes (FG, BG, INV, ENTRY) will revert to their original setting if the following conflicts occur:

Where: Field is the upper 4 bits of the attribute
Character is the lower 4 bits of the attribute

FG - Field same as character
BG - Field same as character or FG same as BG
INV - same as BG or FG
ENTRY - Field same as character or ENTRY same as BG or INV
