What you have to do to accomplish this task is:

1. Extract the domain info from the email address.

2. Do a DNS lookup for the MX record which tells what smtp server to contact.

3. Using SMTP, connect to the smtp server and execute a VRFY command.

Maybe this si something you would like to do and share it with the rest of us in the code library.
