It sounds like you have done everything properly. The only thing that bothers me is the set of I/O ranges for your parallel port. 0378-037F is supported by the security server. The other range is not. Perhaps this is a source of the problem.
As you can see from some of the responses to this subject, some of the newer computers seem to not work with the old parallel dongle. The solution is to go to a USB dongle. Twila can assist you with this.
