I have thunk a lot on this. Here's a ramble:
1) A Windows program (Sadly I never learned to code comfortably in a language that runs natively under Windows) that takes the file name passed from UE - see CAPI - and puts that name into the clipboard. I have written a program, SEEK, that trucks through the INCLUDES and puts its findings onto the the HTMLPTR. I would gladly modify it to get the file name from the clipboard.
2) A Windows SEEK program, that "knows" INCLUDE and USE, that would do the actual SEEK. This approach would require abandoning CED formated USEFILES... Unless we put CR/LF in positions 92/93...
3) On the other hand, if we abandon CED formatted files, or if Comet allowed .TXT extensions (or .DAT) on the data portion of keyed files, we could use one of the many, many super speedy Windows search programs like Google...
Of course, if Comet allowed extensions on the data portion of keyed files we could search customer files or items files or order files or ......
Now if we could get one of those super speedy search guys to return the result in a file who would need alternate indices?
