well,

We sure try to create an environment in which singers and dancers flourish.

Sometimes I must seem gruff and short on this forum (see the Casual Observer message). I have devoted all of my working life to make products that are usable by many developers and perform really well.

I take very seriously any suggestions anyone makes to better Comet. Any feature that I add to the product must be usable into the far future. Just look at read/write image. I designed this feature back when I was working for Qantel in 1978! It has no practical use now, but is still in our language.

I think that the new formatted buffer idea is a good one. It allows developers who use it to take advantage of large persistant storage while not penalizing those who don't use it.

I have looked at our source for ? printers and the only difference I can see between the 2005 code and the last 2004 release has to do with clearing a mistaken configuration of a spool type. The ? printer should/can not have a spool.
